I've been doing bird studies for a while for my boyfriend :icontwodayromance:'s tattoo design. I've been procrastinating and playing with ideas since last year around this time, and I've finally come up with something I really feel good about. I would really like your opinions, is it clear what is going on? I don't want it to be plain as day, but I want it to be obvious enough that the viewer will get it. if there is any question, the lines are imperfect and kind of sharp at some points because I wanted them that way.

Is it clear what is going on.... well, maybe. Are the birds just flying around, or are the 2 facing each other towards the top interacting in some intentional way?

Probably to the person that looks at it without any critical thought would think that the crows are randomly flying around. I'm looking at it and I'm not sure if the placement of some of the birds has any significance.

This is incredibly eye-catching and draws the viewer in despite the complexity of the piece... there's a lot to look at, but the central focal point brings it together really well~

I think this is completely different from anything you've ever done, and I like it. My only thing is, how will this work for a tattoo? where is it going? is this the actualy design for the tat or is this a study for that tat?

This is really lovely! The design is very aesthetically pleasing. I really love how you draw birds - I might come to you for a certain tattoo design I have in mind one of these days. Anyways...gorgeous work! And I agree with ~discount-lobotomy that this would make an awesome poster.

Thank you! well, I plan on reversing the colors on the moon and making the black spot inside it mask an old tattoo that is on the shoulder. it's going to cover most of the shoulder and go down his arm, I'm thinking it will fade out to a light gray around his elbow. It will be modified to adapt to the shape of his arm when I talk to the artist who is going to be tattooing. I don't know what will work best since I don't do tattoo work myself, so I want to be able to consult you know. I have a version where you can move all the birds around, and I can very easily expand the top or the bottom and extend the rays further in any direction.
